“God is here and there and there…” – Psalm 115:3

“God is here and there and there…” – Psalm 115:3

“But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases.” (See Psalm 115:3) Yes He does what He pleases, and it pleases Him when His servants are pleased. He’s really the best Lord of the best house throughout the best of history. And like any verse, it can and will be twisted by some people, so let’s see what words preceded these: “Why should the nations say, ‘Where, now, is their God?'” This is verse 2. The outlying nations and many of the Israelite people remarked that they couldn’t see our Lord in person so they decided to…well, let’s look at verse 4 thru 8: “Their idols are silver and gold, the work of man’s hands. They have mouths, but they cannot speak; They have eyes, but they cannot see; They have ears, but they cannot hear; They have noses, but they cannot smell; They have hands, but they cannot feel; They have feet, but they cannot walk; They cannot make a sound with their throat. Those who make them will become like them, everyone who trusts in them.” The people – although their ancestors could attest to God being among them and performing awesome miracles before their very eyes – said they didn’t see our God so they had to invent one, which gave way to many. And their gods were lame and silent. Sure, they could see them, but they couldn’t feel or experience them. So what good was the sight of them if all they offered was quaint decoration? Our Lord is among us. If we could peer into the spiritual world existing alongside this one, then we’d see Him – but be prepared to get blasted if you do. One reason He may not allow us to directly see Him is that whole “faith” notion He’s quite fond of. Believing while not seeing but knowing the truth anyway is key. Our God is in Heaven AND right next to us. Doing what He pleases and that should please us.
