“people like blueberry muffins, you know” – Proverbs 14:31

“He who oppresses the poor taunts his Maker, but he who is gracious to the needy honors Him.” (See Proverbs 14:31) What other religion has its God going out of His way to make sure you take care of the poor? And if you don’t, you’re said to be messing with Him personally? Certainly not Islam. Not Hindu. And Buddhism says you’ll come back as caterpillar or something in the “next life” so that’s out. Not to make fun…but let’s keep it Biblical here. Only the God of Abraham (and you and me) is worried about the most, and least, of all of us. Why? Well, He made everything so He wants to keep an eye on His creation. And while some people have it better than others at times, it all comes down to what do you do with what you have when you have it. Those on top can fall down and those on bottom can climb up. We honor God when we honor His creation. Now, don’t tree hug or start worshiping the earth, but rather just appreciate it and…give that homeless man a blanket or a muffin or something. You know you saw him back there and you’re going to Starbucks anyway. Take five minutes out to change a life forever.
